1. The 1st thing to do is to create a 100×100 pixel document in Photoshop , with a black background. Make a rectangular selection and then create a 3 color gradient with green, yellow and red.

2. Make a small rectangle on a new layer underneath, which will be used as a template to create tha equalizer bars. Keep the rectangle selected and use layer via cut to cut out a piece of the gradient shape.

3. Make the cut out piece invisible.

4. Move the selection obove the gap, with a 1 wide space between them, and the use layer via cut to cut out another piece of the gradient.

5. Continue to do this along the entire gradient, making each piece invisible.

6. Delete the excess border and make all the cut out pieces of gradietn visible again. Your image should like like the one below

7. Merge all the pieces together and then duplicate it so that you have 6 of them.

8. Move them over so that they’re in the middle.

9. Create a new layer set above the the gradients. Make a black rectangle on a new layer that covers the 1st segmented gradient.

10. Duplicate the black rectangle as many times as it takes to cover all the segmented gradients.

11. Open the Photoshop file in Image Ready. Now you’re going to create the first frame of the animation. Move the 1st black rectangle up to reveal the 1st segment of the 1st gradient.

12. Move up all the black rectangles to reveal segments of each gradient. Make a 2nd frame and then change the position of the black rectangles, like in frame 2 below. Change frame 3 also.
Frame 1 Frame 2 Frame 3

13. For this example I’ve create a total of 6 frames, of which you can see the last 3 below.

14. The image below shows the frame panel

15. And that concludes the tutorial to create a graphic equalizer in Photoshop and Image Ready!
